Becoming a Spy Kid – Project Mc² Ultimate Spy Bag

Dear Mummy, I’ve just discovered Project Mc² on Netflix. Even though I’m only six I’m fascinated with secret spies and solving mysteries.

When I saw the Project Mc² Ultimate Spy Bag I was instantly interested in it because of its colour and design. My mummy liked its link to STEM subjects. The acronym ‘STEM’ stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, and started as simply STEM, without the A for Art.

STEM and STEAM based learning has become a huge educational movement and its great watching it on the Project Mc² TV series. I’ve always wanted to be a spy so the Spy Bag is perfect for me drawing on things I’ve seen on the show. Project Mc² follows four smart teens who band together to use their science skills to save the day.

The Project Mc2 Ultimate Spy Bag looks like an ordinary handbag but actually conceals an extensive spy kit. Inside there are items you would expect to see in a handbag however all is not as it seems.

I opened it up to reveal: test tubes, beakers, a lipstick that’s actually a secret message launcher, a torch disguised as a nail polish, a fingerprinting kit which also doubles up as a compact make-up powder kit that can also be used as shimmer makeup powder along with fingerprint cards. There was also an air blower that looks like a perfume bottle and a ‘spy book’ with ideas for different science experiments.

The booklet contains a couple of suggested experiments and these experiments can be done using ingredients found in most kitchens. And there’s more tasks to do online too, so we had a go at some of them. Check out our YouTube video to see us collect Fingerprints using the make-up compact, sellotape and the perfume bottle air puffer, cards.

The bag is made from a really strong plastic and the gadgets are well made too. It even has a useful and sturdy lock on the front of the bag to keep everything contained and in place. It opens up to create a mini science lab and folds away neatly which my mummy likes as it doesn’t take up too much room.

It would make a really good gift for kids that would like an introduction into STEM activities and role playing. You can buy the Project Mc2 Ultimate Spy Bag from Smyths Toys for £29.99. I can see me playing with this over the summer holidays and taking it with me to Grandmas house as it’s really transportable.
