Dear mummy, the weather has been a bit hit and miss this week but we headed out on Saturday and visited Tinklebell and friends at Wellington Country Park just outside Reading in Berkshire. It was their Fairy and Pixie Party Weekend and we enjoyed watching bubble artists, playing in the pixie craft parlour and jumping on the bouncy castles. It was lovely to see little folks (and big folks) dressed up in fairy costumes.
Wellington Country Park is located in between Reading and Basingstoke just off the A33 and close to the M4 and M3 motorways. It is a very large outdoor and indoor activity play centre with camping facilities, around a large lake.
Wellington Country Park has a number of locations designed especially for toddlers. These offer a range of exciting and engaging play equipment for younger ones to enjoy such as climbing frames, giant jumping pillow, adventure play areas, indoor soft play area, the miniature railway, mini golf course and the enchanted forest with fairy doors carved into the trees and lots of space to have a picnic and enjoy the views over the lakes. My favourite area is the sand pits with water play.
Last time we visited I spent the majority of my time getting sandy. Wellington Country park also has an Animal Farm and Petting Barn with Shetland ponies, donkeys, sheep, chickens rabbits, pigs and goats but on this occasion we ran out of time as we were too busy enjoying the fairy activities.
I put on my best fairy costume (from Sainsbury’s) to join in with the festivities and we hung out with some other fairies. I loved spending time with my grandparents, uncle and super cousin too! We snacked on fairy cakes (of course) and had lunch in the on-site canteen.
Even though the car park was packed it actually seemed really quiet in Wellington Country park and as everyone was dispersed within the large grounds. We didn’t have to queue for anything!! We ate in the canteen and took our leftover food into the grounds for an afternoon picnic.
My highlights were bouncing on the giant pillow and playing on the bouncy castles. At one point I have the whole bouncy castle to myself!
We loved making fairy wands from scratch in the craft area and Wellington Country Park had a great craft room full of materials. They even had instruction sheets which helped us make some of the fairy items! I decided to make a fairy wand with feathers and ribbon attached to a black straw. We had fun embellishing them with glitter, stickers and gems.
While in the craft area my mummy also made us creepy black pipe spiders which we hung from string and chased each other around the park with afterwards! It was great fun. We spent ages looking for the spiders home underneath the steps to the pavilion.
We caught the tail end of the Fairy Pantomime ‘Fairies on Safari’ performance in the big top (sadly we weren’t allowed to take any photos). The dancing and singing was good fun and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
After the show we were allowed to meet the fairies including Tinkerbell! She was very pretty! We hope you like the snapshot of our day! The next event at Wellington Country Park is the Teddy Bears Picnic on the 8th & 9th of August and they run lots of other events during the summer holidays too, so its best to check their website before you visit!
We had a magical afternoon! Thank you very much Wellington Country Park!
