Dear Mummy Blog

Flipping Brilliant at Flip Out Basingstoke!

Dear Mummy, we’re so lucky in Hampshire to have some wonderful attractions available to us. From outdoor adventures in the New Forest to beach days and loads of soft play and museums we are truly spoilt for choice. Just when we thought we couldn’t find another place that would surprise us in lands Flip Out trampolining park….but this is no ordinary trampoline park it really has revolutionised the concept of indoor activity and exercise for kids.

Flip Out is a leading trampoline park operator in the UK and their aim is to deliver massive amounts of healthy and awesome fun. They have some of the biggest trampolines, parkour zones, climbing, games and loads of special events. Not to mention parties, fitness sessions and classes for all ages and abilities. With over 65 outlets in 7 countries, with many more on the horizon, it’s potentially a great way to get kids up and moving in a safe environment.

Check out our video to see how much fun we had!

Some of the health benefits of trampolining include:

It has a real youth club feel to it, with a lot of teenagers and older children being dropped off by parents, while younger children are free to roam while adults take a well deserved break in the cafe. Children of 13 years and under must have a parent or guardian on site at all times. If you’re between 14-18 years old your parent or guardian must fill the waiver out for you but does not have to be present when you visit the trampoline park. All under 5’s must be accompanied by an adult at all times when in the arena, but the adults don’t have to bounce. Even though my folks came in with the intention of relaxing and watching me play they couldn’t resist joining in.

Booking was straight forward and we were given wristbands on entrance. Each Flip Out session is 1 hour-long and costs from £10. Before we started we were taken to a separate video room where we watched a safety video which explains all the rules. Then we were allowed in to the arena to jump and play. We did notice some older kids slip the net and walk straight through without the briefing, so this would need to be monitored. More staff at the doors would help this.

There were plenty of marshals located inside to watch over visitors and lots of safety signage too but adults do need to watch over young ones as some of the teenagers can get a bit pushy. We were each provided with a pair of green non-slip Flip Out socks, which had to be worn to increase grip on the trampolines. Flip Out socks cost £2.00 and are yours to keep for future visits reducing the risk of injury, especially on their wall trampolines.  £1 coin lockers were available for the storage of belongings.

We enjoyed the huge foam pits with battle beams and it reminded us of a throwback to 1990’s TV programme ‘Gladiators’.  The park also includes a super slide, a Ninja Warrior course, arcade games area, climbing wall and diner. The park was huge with 60 end-to-end inter-connected trampolines and angled trampolines to suit all abilities, a slam dunk trampoline and long track trampoline.

There was also stunt boxes for practicing parkour skills, and a full-sized padded Lamborghini to jump around on. Smaller trampolines for under-fives were also available and a soft play near the cafe. The 25,000 square foot attraction also boasts a wipeout zone, a laser maze and loads of foam props.

The venue was decorated in graffiti and was nice and clean when we visited. We were impressed with the lighting effects throughout the park and the loud music was perfect for jumping around to. The Ninja Warrior area was the bit we weren’t expecting which set this trampoline park above the rest. With an impressive ball pit inside, chamber of mirrors it was like a funhouse for adults and teens! My folks had so much fun on it!

We’re so glad Flip Out has come to our town and can’t wait to return with our friends.

Love Bella x

Disclosure: We were granted free entrance to the park for one occasion for the purpose of this review. All onsite purchases were our own.
