Disney’s Aladdin at Mayflower Theatre

Disney Magic has come to Mayflower Theatre and we had the best time at the press night in Southampton recently! @aladdinuk

We headed to Agrabah on a magic carpet ride and enjoyed a fantastic on-stage adaptation of the classic Disney film.

It’s a story we all know and love and it was magical to see it come to life on stage. The casting of the characters was perfect and just like watching the film version.

As we stepped into The Cave of Wonder, the Genie, played be Yeukayi Ushe @yeukayiushe stole the show with his fabulous vocal range, dance moves and impressions – a serious talent!

Gavin Adams’ professional debut as Aladdin was brilliant too @g.adams98, bounding across the stage, ducking and diving, sword fighting and dodging along with his fellow thieves Kassim played by @naynaynews, Babkak @nmbettencourt and Omar @adamtaylor18 – they all brought the energy and comedy to the show.

I was most impressed with the stage combat choreography which had me on the edge of my seat and it was a joy to watch. Adam Strong’s characterisation of Jafar was on point and I wish we saw more of him on stage. @adzstrong

Desmonda Cathabel as Jasmine @desmondacc complimented Aladdin when they delivered stunning vocals on the magic carpet as it cleverly glided through the air with some theatre magic!

This Disney musical pulled out all the stops with glittering sets, clever magic tricks (which had me second guessing), amazing ensemble dance numbers and some catchy songs.
