Dear mummy, there’s something so wonderful about being a child my age. I may only be 2 years old but in my eyes I’m a big girl discovering an even bigger world. I know you love watching me discover new things and you help guide my imagination through story telling and role play. However, there is one thing I haven’t discovered yet. Christmas.
Last year I was really too young to understand what was going on around me and the year before that I was just a baby. But now I’m a toddler I’m starting to understand what Christmas is…
My folks wanted to help guide my exploration into the month of December and all things Christmas by taking me on an adventure to a magical land for an experience my family will never forget.
We have tickets to LaplandUK. All I know is that a man called Father Christmas is going to be there to help me understand what Christmas is. (My parents also are teaching me about the baby Jesus, a donkey and THAT star from my children’s bible! )
So what is LaplandUK? Well a clue is in the title of the event. It’s Lapland, the place where Father Christmas comes from, in the UK. It’s a magical Christmas experience for children and big children. I’m meeting the man in the red suit to ask him what Christmas is about and his role in it all. Chinese whispers from nursery has lead me to believe that he has this list of all the children in the world, and if you’ve been good you get a present to say thank you and keep up the good work. If you’ve been bad however….well, no one told me that part!
LaplandUK offers a truly unique and enchanting experience. In its ninth year it transforms Whitmoor Forest on the Windsor Estate into a snowy wonderland, using special effect snow (like they use in Hollywood films) to transform the location into a winter scene like out of a fairytale. It’s an immersive theatrical Christmas experience offering families a tailor-made three-and-a-half hour journey through the magical Arctic homeland to see Father Christmas and his elves.
So I’m waiting for my personal invitation from Father Christmas to be delivered from LaplandUK requesting my help at his secret Elf Toy Factory. I’ll get my own LaplandUK passport to transport me to this wonderland. If I’m lucky I might get the chance to make some toys and buy some gifts for my folks using the Elf Jingles (LaplandUK currency).
I can’t wait to meander through the beautiful snowy woodland pathways, listen to Christmas stories and stop off at the Toy Factory to help the Elves get the toys ready. I might even see Mother Christmas in her kitchen and have a go at decorating gingerbread goodies. I can’t be held responsible for eating all the gingerbread men though, I am a toddler after all! (Apologies in advance Mrs Claus)
Hopefully, if we’re not too full from eating all the biscuits, we’ll be able to get our skates on to enjoy the festive Ice Rink and meet the resident huskies and reindeer in the Elf Village.
Of course I’m looking forward to seeing the big man himself in his snowy woodland home, just me and him…oh and my folks. Pure Christmas magic!
