Dear mummy, Lalaloopsy Minis Style ‘n’ Swap dolls have arrived in the UK and they are so fun! Big in the US, Lalaloopsy is a massive toy brand from MGA Entertainment which specialise in toy dolls. The main toy line includes Large Dolls (13-inch), Littles (smaller siblings of the 13-inch dolls), Minis and a variety of mini play-sets and Tinies. With loads of different types of dolls in their range, from the rag dolls (at Build-a-Bear Workshop) to plastic dolls, they are designed to teach kids that everybody is unique in their own special way with all different personalities and styles.
The Lalaloopsy brand also promotes the idea that old things can become new again, everything can be reused, restyled and nothing should ever go to waste. Based on old-fashioned rag dolls with little button similar to Coraline, these little dolls are really cute and you can change their outfits, accessories and even their hair. You’d never get bored with them!
We reviewed the new Mittens Fluff ‘N’ Stuff – Lalaloopsy Minis Style ‘n’ Swap Doll which came with a dinky little doll, a blue wig, a woolly hat with ears, a snowflake onesie, three cute dresses, handbag, shoes and ice skates.
Each Style ‘n’ Swap set costs £10 and comes in a blister pack with all the contents on show and with a colourful handle to carry the pack around. Lovely packaging and they would make a sweet gift for any child. You can buy the dolls from Tesco, Toys ‘R’ Us and The Entertainer. This toy is recommended for children aged 4+, due to the nature of the very small parts (i.e. the shoes).
My character is Mittens and I was getting her ready for some ice skating and snowball fighting in her winter sports themed outfits. She is a light brown-skinned doll with pale pink cheeks and black button eyes. I love the detailing with her button eyes and are fascinated with them. She has long blue hair worn in high pigtails held with white bows and wrap around curved fringe. The clothes are made of rubber with splits down the back which let the doll’s arms, legs and body fit in.
The outfits are interchangeable with other dolls in this range, there are plenty of ways to customise the little dolls, creating lots of exciting looks. There are 16 ways to mix and match outfits in each set and I spend a lot of time pulling her clothes on and off. Each doll comes with outfits inspired by their personalities. There are 3 other Mini doll sets in the range include Peanut Big Top, Crumbs Sugar Cookie and Spot Splatter Splash. Each set contains a number of different accessories, mainly 2 hair styles, 4 different outfits, 2 pairs of shoes/boots and a handbag. The doll is really tactile and nice to play with and I like bending her limbs and twisting her head…my mummy thinks it’s a little bit like something out of the exorcist!! (I have no idea what she’s talking about)
The dolls are just a few inches tall and are made of plastic and have moveable limbs. The outfits pull off easily when you want to change the doll’s look but are a bit fiddly for small hands to put back on especially the shoes which are around 1cm in size. Even though the shoes have little splits up the back to push their tiny feet into them, perseverance is key with these Mini dolls.
Before receiving this doll through to review we’d never heard of Lalaloopsy but after surfing the internet we can’t actually believe how huge they are across the pond. Real collectors items! It seems they are becoming a world wide phenomenon. I think they are really cool and the perfect size for putting them in my mummy’s handbag and daddy’s rucksack to take away on trips. However my folks aren’t that convinced, the shoes are so tiny that there sure to get lost and the size of the dolls clothes are really fiddly. They wouldn’t want these tiny items left around with babies in the house. I just need to make sure I look after these dolls and keep all the accessories together.
Love Bella x

These look super cute! I’d have loved them as a little girl, although the shoes do look a bit fiddly!
The variety of kids toys is incredible nowadays! So adorable!
This look fun. I’ve heard of them before. My daughter would love these
I have never heard of them before but I love their cartoonish faces and they make a great change from Barbies.
We hadn’t either before reviewing them!
I have seen them around in shops, so far it hasn’t caught T’s attention yet or any of her friends. Won’t be surprised if that changes soon! The dolls look so much fun to have.
We think they are going to be big this year judging by the US market! *toy expert here* 😉
Oh Bella looks like you had a wonderful day playing with Lalaloopsy! I am so jealous, wish I had Lalaloopsy to play with when I was younger. I need to find someone your age so I can play Lalaloopsy with them 🙂
I’ve never seen these before! I think the button eyes are very cute too, reminds me of Coraline!
