Top five things to do in Lanzarote with kids

Dear mummy, the summer maybe nearly over but we’re dreaming of sunnier plains already! Looking at our holiday options for next years trip abroad, we keep coming back to Lanzarote as a destination.

lanzarote – playa de papagayo

Lanzarote has long been a popular destination with families. While it may be well travelled the island still has many surprises under its sleeve. Whether you’ve flown to the Canary Islands before or if you never have, Lanzarote should be near the top of any list of family-friendly destinations. Thanks to the wealth of activities, highly-developed tourist network, natural beauty, and year-round good weather, Lanzarote is always a wise choice.

If you’re wondering what there is on offer for kids, then read on:

You can visit to the Wild West

Lanzarote’s largest theme park Rancho Texas, gives kids and adults a chance to visit a slice of the Wild West on the south coast of the island. Yeeeehaaaa! It also has its very own zoo, with amazing animals like tigers and komodo dragons! There are also pools and rides for the little ones to let off steam. And in the evening there’s chance to try some line dancing and see some lasso tricks.

Steinerei-Balkon

There’s a mountain view like no other

Take in the amazing views of Mirador del Rio. This amazing mountain top viewing station was designed by famous Lanzarote son César Manrique, and affords some of the best views anywhere in the Canary Islands that will delight kids and grownups alike. It also has a bar and glass fronted café that lets you take in the views over a drink and bite to eat. Thanks to its location, you can easily drive to there, and there are regular bus tours as well.

You can tour a volcano tour by camel

Like the rest of the Canary Islands, Lanzarote is not short of unique natural beauty. And one of the most fun ways to experience it is on the back of a camel! There are safari tours available in the Timanfaya National Park, and they are the best way to take in the splendour of the area’s stark volcanic beauty.

There’s an underwater safari

It’s not just on land where Lanzarote’s natural beauty shines, the ocean around the island is just as alluring. Fortunately, you can easily experience this too! All you need to do is book a trip on the submarine safari. Embarking from Puerto Calero, Submarine Safaris are one of Lanzarote’s most popular attractions, and with an hour under the waves in a spacious and comfortable submarine it’s easy to see why.

It has an abundance of beaches

As you’d expect from such a holiday hotspot, Lanzarote does not want for beautiful beaches. They are found dotted all around the coast and range from the spectacular like the mountain-lined Bahia de Penedo, to the small and sedate like the famous Playa de Papagayo. You’ll never want for sun, sea and sand on a trip to Lanzarote.

Sounds good to us! With so much to see and do Lanzarote is definitely on our holiday shortlist! Have you ever been to Lanzarote? Please let us know what you think of this beautiful island.
