Dear Mummy, I’m a big fan of the spooktacular show Vampirina on Disney Junior which is based on the Vampirina Ballerina book series, which celebrates friendship and difference. The animated series features a young vampire named Vampirina Hauntley who’s recently moved with her family from Transylvania to Pennsylvania to run the Scare B&B, a guest house for ghouls.
We were recently sent a new range of toys from the show to review – The Vampirina Bootastic Backpack and a Poppy Scooter. When mummy first asked me to open the bag it came in I could hardly contain my excitement and happiness, I might have made daddy deaf with my screams!
The Boo-tastic Backpack Set (£24.99) can be bought from good toy shops and online. The set includes purple backpack just like the one that Vampirina wears in the cartoon, funky spider glasses, a necklace with recorded phrases from the show and that lights up, bat shaped hair clips, a keyring and two small sheets of stickers. Phew! Thats a lot included in the box!
The hard plastic backpack has an adjustable nylon strap which can be worn across one side of the body and is opened by pressing the button on the top and flicking down the back panel. It makes a great bag to store my PE clothes in for school or to keep all my Vampirina toys together. I’ve even taken it onboard a flight to Ireland with me recently and it makes a great travel size.
I love all the funky accessories that come with the backpack. The glasses are perfect for my dressing up box and they featured spooky spiders’ webs which will be good for Halloween. The sparkly skull necklace lights up when you push it, and you can hear phrases from the show. It’s got a safety clasp for easy release so great for playtime and has lots of detail on it. Check out our vlog to see it in action below.
I loved the figurines in the Spooky Scooter set and there are two versions to collect; Vampirina and Gergoria and Poppy with Wolfie, which is the set we were sent to review. Each set comes with a scooter, a figure, a pet and skateboard. The skateboard attaches to the scooter so that Poppy can pull Wolfie along behind her. I have a pink scooter just like the toy version and it’s nice to see the figurines with helmets and kneepads on, reinforcing the safety message mummy and daddy keep saying to me.
You can move Poppy’s head from side to side and her arms move up and down so she can grip the handle but her legs don’t move. She has a hole in the base of her feet which slots onto the scooter and can ride the skateboard too.
We think these range of toys are fang-tastic and I’ve certainly been playing a lot with them in the summer holidays already. The backpack is really eye-catching and makes a welcomed addition to my Vampirina costume and other toys. It’s just a shame it’s not a wee bit bigger to carry my water bottle and have a double strap for carrying as that would make it a perfect school bag! It didn’t stop me taking it with me on my holiday adventures with Grandma.
Love Bella x
