Our Monochrome Magic Bathroom!
Dear mummy, if your house is your castle, then your bathroom should be your haven. What a nice idea eh? Unfortunately for us our bathroom resembles a storage room full of lime-scaled toys and broken floor tiles. It’s funny that we’ve neglected our bathroom for so long. It’s been on mummy’s list of “things to do” for over 9 years, since her and daddy moved into the property before their wedding.
When you think of the health benefits of having a clean and tranquil bathroom space you can see why it makes sense that my parents are now thinking of a full make over. A long hot bath hasn’t been top of my mummy’s priorities recently, however I think it would do her some good to relax and soak in a nice hot bath with a glass of wine. It sounds like heaven for my mummy, but the idea of soaking in a bath full of plastic dolphins and ‘In the Night Garden’ toys getting stuck under her bum, fills her with dread.
This is why I’m looking at a new bathroom for her. I’ve kinda taken over my parents lives and personal space, my toys spilling out from my nursery into every room…but not for much longer! I’m pledging to create a space just for my mummy – her sea of tranquility – a new bathroom.
So, where do you start? I’ve never designed a bathroom before, I’m not an interior designer just a small child. It might be worth starting with a list of do’s and don’t’s when it comes to creating the ideal bathroom space.
Do’s
– Get rid of clutter
– Keep it clean – clean lines
– Keep it neutral and natural
– Use the best quality products and fluffy towels to create the spa feel
– Be clever about the lighting – create a mood, just like the ‘love’ hormone Oxytocin
– Entertainment, think about how my mummy will relax, reading a book/her iPad
– Noise level (remember I’ll be sleeping in the next room) think about the floor and running water sounds.
Don’t
– Overload the space – less is more
– Put pictures up or loads of ornaments (too much to dust)
– Use crazy colours
– Use themes (even though I’d like it to look like a water park)
– Office blinds or carpets, anything that can collect mould and damp.
We’ve scoured the Internet and looked for solutions for the above ‘do’s. Here’s some of our ideas based on using a tip-top company called Bella’s Bathrooms, what’s cool is that they have the same name as me! (they aren’t actually my company, so don’t worry ;))
I’ve designed the perfect bathroom for my mummy….however I have added in the rubber ducky bathmat for me π
Let me know what you think?
