Dear mummy, we’ve had a really busy, but brilliant long weekend 🙂 Thank goodness, as we needed a distraction after an awful week.

We’ve carved some more pumpkins and went to Wellington Country Park, outside Reading for their Halloween Event. While we were there we made spooky masks in the craft room, danced in the big top tent at the Halloween disco and watched the ghost train.

Halloween at Wellington Country Park

The weather was beautiful and we even managed to have a picnic outside. I enjoyed terrorising visitors with my spooky skeleton face and kept glancing at my own reflection in the windows unsure of who stared back. On a couple of occasions I even made myself jump!!

We had a big trip to Hobbycraft to stock up on some supplies as it’s just around the corner from us. They had a whole aisle devoted to Halloween items. We picked up some reduced bits in the sale for next year and grabbed our Halloween paints.

We created some spooky paintings to hang on our walls. We bought paint and blank canvases and I stepped in the paint to make spooky footprints. My mummy helped me paint paper plates with creepy faces. I loved covering my hands and splodging them on the paper, I made a real mess too, wiping the hair out of my face and covering my forehead with orange paint. I looked like I had been tango’d!

We headed into Basingstoke City Centre and I attended two Halloween events. One in Festival Place and one at the Top of  Town which was a Day of the Dead parade.

In The Malls, Tescos had donated some pumpkins from their store to the professional pumpkin carvers to raise money for charity. Visitors were also having a go at carving pumpkins there were some great designs.

While we were in town we stopped by our favourite shops, LUSH, Waterstones and All Our Own Crafts. We discovered some great presents for Christmas and picked up a couple of them.

We were impressed with the Halloween shop displays in Hotel Chocolate, NEXT and Starbucks and we loved that the high street charity shops were getting in on the action.

Bring me the horizon gig

In the evening while I was tucked up in bed my mummy went down to Southampton to see her favourite band Bring Me the Horizon at Southampton Guildhall. It was a welcomed change to get out of the house and act like a teenager with her friend. She reminisced that the first gig she attended at the Guildhall was 20 years early for the Prodigy Jilted Generation tour.

The Family Travel Show

After the late night on the tiles my mummy was shattered but it didn’t stop us from heading up to London the following day to enjoy the Family Travel Show. We had a great time talking to tour operators and travel companies and took away with us lots of inspiration and travel tips.

Phew! What a manic couple of days….we wouldn’t have it any other way at the moment.

Now it’s all downhill until Christmas!

What did you get up to over the Halloween weekend?

Love Bella x

  1. What a fantastic weekend you had baby Bella and I’m sure mummy found those ladybird books very informative. I hope you gave her time to relax with one of those Lush bath bombs after that all that fun!

  2. Jilted Generation! Now that brings back memories. I’ve just cleared out the garage and stumbled across some Fatboy Slim and Radiohead CDs that have made their way into the car and on to the stereo for the first time in 10years! Anyway, love the idea of painting with feet. Never actually done that with my kids. #twinklytuesday

  3. Had no idea that professional pumpkin carving was a thing! Amazing though. You certainly packed a lot into the weekend. #whatevertheweather
