Who says staying in the UK is boring?! We’ve done our homework and have stumbled across some lovely destinations in the UK.
From quaint cottages to family friendly hotels, glamping to caravanning these are the top 10 places we’d like to stay in the UK in 2016.
We are truly blessed to have rolling countryside, wild beaches and historic attractions on our doorstep. With only a day’s drive in all directions to reach the coast (less for us) the UK is a great country to explore.
The only drawback is the unpredictable weather, but its a much easier trip than heading abroad – no airports, foreign currency and no language barriers. For most young families the UK and the British summer is worth the gamble.
We’ve seen some amazing companies online and here are our top destinations. Hopefully we will tick at least one off our list this year!
So without further ado, here’s our top recommendations.
1) Canopy & Stars
Canopy & Stars are a great, quirky company that hand-pick, inspect and select unusual places to stay in the UK and provide accommodation off the beaten track. They are renowned for their glorious glamping selections and friendly customer service. We’re in love with their treehouses, safari tents and quirky converted outbuildings in the stunning countryside. They have over 500 usual places to stay in the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

We’ve made our wish list online as part of their The Year of Wild Adventures #YearofWild competition. With a chance to win a years worth of wild adventure holidays we’d be fools not to join in. Four Canopy & Stars holidays throughout 2016 and four wild experiences; from foraging to western riding are up for grabs! So head on over and see what it’s about. This is what we did to enter their competition…
Step 1: Sign up for a Canopy & Stars account (or log-in if you already have one)
Step 2: Create your Wild Adventure Wishlist by picking your favourite places you’d love to stay and hitting the button to add them to your Favourites. Visit our #YearofWild selection here.
Step 3: Share your Wishlist with your friends via Facebook or Twitter or both using the hashtag #YearofWild
Step 4: Sit back and browse the rest of our collection with your fingers crossed. The competition winner will be notified within one working week of the closing date of the competition, 7th March, 2016.

We’d love to visit Candyland Studios in Devon (which appears on our wishlist), with it’s hammocks and chilled back decor it looks like the perfect retreat for 2 stressed out parents and a toddler.

2) Kid & Coe
Kid & Coe are a uber modern and luxurious travel company which provide high-end accommodation to families. All the properties on their books are gorgeous. In fact we could have spent hours on their website dreaming of all the nice houses we’d like to stay in. Forget grand designs, a lot of their properties have had professional architects build them with celebrity interior designers. We’d love to visit The Cob Residence near Bude, Cornwall with its homely feel and open fire. Its on the Cornwall/Devon border and close to sandy beaches, cliffside paths and plenty of family friendly attractions. Its super stylish with amazing interior design and sleeps unto 9 people, which makes it perfect for the whole family! The owners can arrange babysitting on request and it has WiFi! It has everything you need for kids, including highchairs, stairgates, children toys and books and cots on provided. With plenty of space to roam around in, it even has a treehouse for kids to explore. Sounds perfect!

3) Loveland Farm
Loveland Farm is a cool, contemporary campsite where you can sleep under the stars. We love the quirky pod accommodation on the farm too. It all seems very space-age and unusual. It’s in the perfect setting between Barnstaple and Bude on the Devon and Cornwall border. Which means lots of beautiful coastal walks and stunning sea views from the site. Its been voted “Top 10 Glamping escapes” by Escapism Mag in 2014 and has won lots of accolades and we can see why! We’d love to stay in the Loveland Pod!

4) Kodomo
Kokomo provide luxury family holidays in the UK. They seek out the best family friendly hotels in the country and provide recommendations on travel itinerary through their informative website. Booking looks really easy and stress free, perfect for parents who want a little luxury in their lives. We’d love to visit Lime Wood, Hampshire and have only heard great things about the award-winning food and luxury spa. Whats great is that the New Forest is on the doorstep which is perfect for when daddy takes me off on an adventure while my mummy chills out with a glass of wine in the outdoor hot tub! Bliss!

5) Holiday Tots UK
Holiday Tots helps busy parents find suitable holiday accommodation. They specialise in sourcing high-quality holiday properties tailored to families with pre-school children (perfect for me then!). They believe in quality not quantity and have a great selection of UK and worldwide accommodation on their easy to use website. We’d love to visit Kingsand in Cornwall. Kingsand Cottage is a spacious Grade ll listed holiday cottage in the pretty & historic village and only a few meters to the beach. Its been voted one of the UK’s best coastal holiday cottages by The Sunday Times. We love the homely feel to this property and that its near local amenities right in the centre of the village. It would make a perfect family holiday destination.

6) TotsToo
We’ve heard a lot of great things about TotsToo. We’ve seen them advertised and met them in person at the Family Travel Show. They’ve won awards and are a trusted brand. They have a gorgeous portfolio of handpicked hotels and villas which are luxuriously chic and where the facilities are truly kid-centric. The staff go above and beyond to find holiday suitable for all budgets. We love their Luxury for Less offers. They have a great selection of holidays abroad and in the UK. We’d like to visit Woolley Grange in Wiltshire. It would make a great weekend retreat and help recharge our batteries. Its a charming hotel and has 14-acres of private grounds which is great for us to explore.

7) Yorkshire Coastal Cottages
Yorkshire Coastal Cottages specialise in four, five star luxury self-catering seaside cottages on the Yorkshire Coast incorporating the popular seaside locations of Runswick Bay, Sandsend, Whitby, Scarborough and Filey, as well as neighbouring villages. They have a great range – from stunning holiday cottages with sea views and hot tubs, to barn conversions with swimming pools and elegant period townhouses. We’d love stay near Whitby in Sandsend Cottage right on the beach, with beautiful views and amble room it would make the perfect seaside holiday.

8) New Park Manor
As a Luxury Family Hotel, New Park Manor promises family friendly holidays that tick all the boxes. We’d love to explore the New Forest National Park from a swanky hotel. It would be awesome for my mummy to take some time to herself, sink down in a hot tub and watch the deer and ponies walk past.
New Park Manor is all about peace and tranquility – yet it’s only one and a half hour’s drive from London. The natural surroundings are great for family activities – from clay shooting, archery, horse riding and climbing trees in the extensive grounds, to watersports and beach fun a short drive away. Bath House Spa sounds beautiful and looks amazing.

9) Devon Valley Holidays
The location really sells Devon Valley Holidays and we’re looking to book in June. We’ll be staying in the popular Shaldon Silver caravan and its a great budget base to explore Devon. With all the mod-cons and great facilities on site to keep the whole family entertained we are looking forward to visiting Devon Valley Holidays this summer.

10) Bluestone Wales
Bluestone Wales is in the middle of Pembrokeshire National Park, surrounded by countryside and beaches. It sounds like the ideal place for families looking to explore the great outdoors. With fantastic facilities, excellent accommodation, a spa on the doorstep, water park, indoor play centre and fine dining this sounds like it could be the perfect retreat for my folks too!
So what do you think of our selection? They are some great destinations here, I wonder how many we can tick off this year? Wish us luck on our grand adventures!
Love Bella x
We love staycations! Butlins is our favourite, but we’ve also done Haven, Parkdean and a B&B in Blackpool! Not sure where we’ll be heading this year but it’ll definitely be another staycation – maybe time to give Bluestone a try! Great post #KCACOLS

Because of the unpredictable-ness of our weather that’s why I am always willing to sit through airports, foreign currency and language barriers but I would like to go to Devon one day.
