Kate and Mim-Mim TV Premiere in London

Dear Mummy, I have a special friend. He’s my ‘funny bunny’ friend called Mim-Mim. He’s been my friend for some time now and I take him everywhere, we’ve been on holiday together, camping and festivals and recently we took a trip to London for my first ever TV premiere.

Walking the purple carpet and meeting a star!

I was invited to a special screening of a new CBeebies episode of Kate & Mim-Mim in Leicester Square (just like a movie premiere) I walked the ‘purple carpet’ and hung out with stars like Stacey Solomon! Reality TV and soap stars also joined us in the same room, which had my folks gushing and trying to figure out where they recognised them from. Our host was the awesome CBeebies presenter Cat Sandion, we saw CBeebies head honcho Kay Bendow and heard about the TV shows creators Scott and Julie Stewart (their daughter is called Kate and the show is based on her).

Getting ready for the premiere

Kate & Mim-Mim is a popular pre-school series aimed at 3-6 year olds and inspired by a real life girl called Kate and her toy Mim-Mim. It follows their adventures as they travel to the fantasy world of Mimiloo where Mim-Mim comes alive as a larger-than-life big bunny buddy. In each episode, Kate and Mim-Mim discover exciting new places, meet new friends  and conquer challenges which helps to solve a problem Kate has encountered in the real world. Each episode has great storylines with good morals rooted within the narrative.

VIP treatment at the special screening

The VIP Premiere took place at the Curzon Cinema, Soho, in London. I had my face painted, enjoyed a magic show and had fun colouring in. It was a really kid friendly event. We watched a new episode called ‘Kate in Oz’ and as you can guess from the title it was about Kate and Mim-Mims adventures in Oz. The plot is a shorted and simplified version of the classic film and even includes a yellow brick road.

Waiting for the show to start

Usually when Kate and her purple bunny twirl together they end up in Mimiloo but on this occasion Mim-Mim’s magic purple twirl gets stolen by an evil witch called Violet and they end up in Oz, dazed and confused. Thankfully Lily the Good Witch sets them on the path to find the Wizard of Oz. But the magic purple twirl isn’t the only thing Witch Violet has her eyes on, as she loves collecting and stealing purple things and her focus is set on the very large purple bunny Mim-Mim and Kate’s magic sparkly purple shoes.

We’ll be watching the new episodes!

She meets her friends from other episodes playing the Good Witch, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion and they all overcome challenges along the way to help free their friend Mim-Mim and teach the naughty witch Violet an important lesson. Actress Cat Deeley makes her voice debut as Violet and she did a great job.

Mim-Mim has his seat!

Without giving too much away from new episode that gets aired in CBeebies this month, Kate with the aid of her friends save Mim-Mim from Violet’s evil clutches. There are so many wonderful characters in this episode and we love the cute Inkets and the bright colours and pretty landscapes. I giggled with joy and concentrated at the end and my folks love watching my reactions to my favourite character on the big screen.

My two heroes!

When the lights came up the room was buzzing and people clapped while the children cheered and we all left the cinema in good moods. I had a wonderful time and it was such a great experience for the whole family.

They had thought of everything! Cute little cookies

We all enjoyed watching the screening and getting treated like mini VIPs. I even got to ride the tube for the first time and tour london afterwards, visiting the Natural History Museum, seeing the Houses of Parliament and walking Southbank, of course Mim-Mim accompanied me!

My little legs were knackered afterwards, I wish my toy Mim-Mim could have transported me back home at the end of the day! I can’t wait to watch the new episode again on CBeebies and I’ll be recording the rest of the shows on catch-up to make sure I don’t miss them while at nursery. The Kate & Mim-Mim special, Kate in Oz, will be transmitted on CBeebies on Saturday, October 29, at 10.35am and the series will continue from Monday 31st October, weekdays at 8.50am according to my mummy (based on her research).

  2. Awwww it looks like you had a fantastic time. We love Kate and Mim-min but couldn’t make the screening. Super exciting and lovely bunny ears 🙂 #bloggerclubuk

  3. Aww what a lovely experience! This sounds like the perfect day. I always wish I can be transported back home straight after a day in London too – getting home while everyone is exhausted is always the hardest part! #sharingthebloglove

  4. What a fabulous VIP experience! I’d love to go to a premier and do a bit of star spotting! My son isn’t a fan of Kate and Mim-mim for some reason though – he shouts ‘NO!’ at the TV whenever it comes on! No idea what the objection is – he feels the same about the Furchester Hotel and Sarah and Duck too! A boy of picky tastes apparently. Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

  5. Wow this is amazing! We’re big Mim-Mim fans our house!

Hubby and I went to the film premiere of Mama Mia because we were on honeymoon and we got chatting to someone who worked at the cinema and he sorted it all out for us, bless him! #TwinklyTuesday
