Dear Mummy, on weekends I like nothing better than getting my parents to run ragged, taking me from clubs to groups, parties to seeing friends. This weekend was particularly hectic with my 5th Birthday Party celebrations.
We are a family that has a busy schedule with the school run, full-time working, swimming lessons, drama club, hockey practice, commuting to London on a regular basis, parents evenings, birthdays, blogging, vlogging…the list goes on. Sometimes we just need a quick and convenient meal that pleases the whole family. I think we’ve found it in Rustlers, you know the guys that make the tasty microwave burgers, but fear not these convenient and affordable meals can be exciting and healthy! Check out #RustlersHack for inspiration.
We treated ourselves to Rustlers Southern Fried Chicken Burgers (Twin Pack) the UK’s No1 micro-snacking brand, which contains marinated chicken with a southern fried breadcrumb. This was the perfect base to create a unique, tasty burger with my mummy, while daddy was away playing hockey. The nice thing was that it only took a couple of minutes to make and less than that to devour, leaving more play time for me and my mummy! Wohooo!
As part of the #RustlersHack challenge from Britmums this week, we created a balanced meal in just 5 minutes! As the chicken burgers take such little time to prepare, they can be ready in just 90 SECONDS! Yep, 90 seconds in the microwave! Wow! it gave us time to chop up some colour veg, eat some of the cherry tomatoes while preparing (yes my mummy caught me out on the video) and build up an appetite.
We’ve gone a bit rainbow mad in our house hence the theme of our idea weekend burger ‘Somewhere over the rainbow chicken burger”. If we could taste the rainbow we would and I’m fascinated by all things mermaids and unicorns too. I am five after all. One of my favourite activities at the moment is attending Stagecoach drama club and we’ve recently been learning lines from the Wizard of Oz.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Once in a lullaby
We’re dreaming of my ideal burger, and you guessed it – its colourful. The Rustlers Burger Hacking Challenge was the perfect opportunity to get creative in the kitchen with my mummy and we made it into a fun activity. See our video 🙂
My mummy clicked her magic shoes together! Vooilia! A rainbow inspired burger, colourful and quick perfect for a weekend meal. The burgers are slightly smaller than average, weighing 140g each, so they’re ideal for teeny hands like mine and pretty much guaranteed to be received with a smile. Don’t be fooled though, these are ample size for my folks too and super tasty.
In case you fancy having a go at this #RustlersHack here’s a list of what was on our plates to create our rainbow burgers: red peppers, tomatoes, yellow peppers, green peppers, cucumber, lettuce, cheese, mayo (my mummy used burger sauce) We loved dressing up our burger by adding a spectrum of coloured vegetables. It was like art on a plate!
Not only was my mummy impressed with the taste likening them to KFC, she also found out that the chicken used in Rustlers is traceable to farm and their factory is BRC accredited which is mega-important in the food industry.
You don’t have to go over the rainbow to find these burgers as they are available at Tescos. Are you brave enough to try the Rustlers Burger Hacking Challenge? What would you add to yours? The new southern fried chicken burgers from Rustlers are delicious, with a twin pack costing around £2.50 made with quality, 100% traceable chicken are the perfect quick fix for busy families like ours.
Love Bella x

I don’t eat meat myself but I do love the idea of this. I always so I eat too many beige meals and need to bring in some colour. Where colour is, vitamins are. Great post!
Way to go, amazing idea to get a child to eat their veggies, by making it fun. Not to mention how scrummy the burger looks.

Love the idea. My kids love burgers but we never really have them in a healthy way. It is much better to add some salad items to make it a bit less naughty!
This rainbow burger looks like a real tasty treat, love how you packed loads of veggies in.
Adding colour to a meal always makes it look so appealing, this looks delicious!
