Vlogtober – A waste of time or a really good idea?

Dear Mummy, we’ve been toying with Vlogtober and Vlogmas for a really long time, debating our participation in daily vlogs since the summer. So we’re going to give it a shot! Oh yes, like a marathon of home movies we’re going to be putting ourselves out there on YouTube for the whole month of October and potentially December too.

So what is Vlogtober? It’s basically daily vlogging for the whole of October to celebrate Autumn and Halloween, which just happens to be out favourite time of year! Shhhh we haven’t told daddy yet as we could see this might tip him over the edge, as my mummy sits in front of a computer enough at work.

So how will we squeeze it all in? Planning. Well, that’s the idea. We’ve created a prompt list to follow, with one mystery item on there, as it’s a surprise for me. Check it out below.

Of course shooting film takes no time, it’s the editing and publishing that is time-consuming, so we are going to see how we go and hopefully it will pave the way for daily vlogging in December when Vlogmas rolls around. My mummy works full time and I go to school during the day so we’re going to do it in the evenings – if I’m not too tired.

What are the benefits? Well it certainly isn’t views from what we’ve heard, but it’s a great opportunity for someone stumbling across our channel to get to know us a bit better and also get hyped up for Halloween. We’re hoping our passion for the season will be infectious – not in a zombie kinda way.

Of course its going to be heavily themed with random toy reviews, weekly vlogs and days out thrown in for good measure. The more we produce the more our watch hours will hopefully go up, but more importantly our confidence in front of the camera will grow. We’re still a very small channel and have lots to learn and share with you guys, so without further ado here’s our first Vlogtober Vlog and we hope you’d like to join us on the challenge. Please pop over to our channel and show us some love x

Will it turn us into Zombies? Will it send my mummy to the grave? Will daddy get a fright! Who knows…

Love Bella x

P.s – We will update this in November to let you know how we got on!

  2. Oh, This sounds awesome. I just love the idea about the vlogtober. Looks like it was so much fun. Good luck to you guys!

  3. Good luck with your challenge! You are brave! I don’t think I would be able to do it, I’m sort of scared of the camera, haha. I prefer to be behind it, not in front.

  4. I heard of the Blogtober challenge and thought about for a split second before deciding that I could never do that!
I think it’s great that you planned all the topics ahead, so you can just focus on the shooting and the editing part, instead of loosing hours thinking about what to say.

    Good luck!!

  5. Good luck! It’s a great idea for upping you confidence vlogging. The more you do, the more relaxed you’ll be. I’ll look forward to seeing how you do.

    1. Yeah, we’re having to do everything in the evenings and at weekends. It’s proper time consuming but fun. Still going strong though… hope we make it through to the end! 😉

  6. I love that you’ve created your own list of prompts that you (and others) can follow – it’s a really good idea because I know I’d get totally lost by about Day 3! I think Vlogtober is a good one because it gives your readers a chance to low key stalk you a little 😉 for example, I have enough reading and commenting to do on the daily so it’s good for me to be able to watch a few videos from the bloggers I really like (and I’m this case are local to me!) and it takes up less time/gives me a break from having to find out stuff about you. Blogger’s about me pages are always preset info geared towards attracting brands so it’s njce to see the real you!
