Dear Mummy, we’ve been in that period from Christmas to New Year and we’ve got cabin fever. Bad.
The weather is stormy and we’re stuck indoors with only food to keep us company.
Well, that’s a lie. We’ve got the telly and all my Christmas toys to keep us occupied. We managed to make a break for it on a couple of days when the weather wasn’t as bad so I could meet up with some of my friends and road test one of my new presents from my grandparents (daddy wasn’t so amused chasing after me!).
However, all the days seem to be rolling into one and before we know it’s the 4th January and time to go back to nursery. Time to resume the daily grind and routine.
January can be a miserable month, short on cash, feeling sluggish and not getting enough fresh air can lead to cabin fever.
We’ve tried nearly everything to elevate the feeling of boredom in our household but it’s hard not to climb the walls with a crazy toddler full of energy.
This is what we’ve done to keep me occupied over the last couple of days while the UK has been battered by storms.
Indoor camping and stories around the campfire. I spent a great deal of time in my bedroom playing with my soft toys. Telling them stories about the ‘Sea Witch’ – my imaginary adversary.
Dressing up. I enjoyed dressing up as Cinder-Bella and had a princess tea party with my cousin.
Painting. Keeping the Cinderella theme going my mummy downloaded some Princess colouring-in templates from Pinterest for me to paint.
We had fun chilling out in front of the telly watching back 2 back Disney princess films under our duvets.
Spending quality time with mummy and daddy has been fun and I’ve kept them on their toes!
I think it’s ok to have some downtime once in a while….but I can’t wait to get back to normality and routine again.
I’m a bit fed up with days in pyjamas!
What have you been up to recently, have you braved the weather and been outside?
Love Bella x
Ah yes cabin fever hit us too! It didn’t help that we all had stinking colds over christmas so just wanted to hibernate! We managed to get out for a quick park trip last week and the fresh air did us the world of good. Just wish the weather would make up its mind, we’ve had rain everyday which isn’t fun!! xx
Awww it looks like you have had a great time, even if you were stuck inside for a lot of the time. We have spent a lot of time inside too as it’s been too cold out!
Aaah no! We didn’t get cabin fever! The period between Christmas and New year is my favourite — I love it that my boy is off work and at home with me and our sons 🙂 I’m sad it’s over now — back to the grindstone again. Happy new year Dawn! Hope it’s a lovely one! 🙂
Aww, love the dress! We’ve been feeling the same too, no money to do anything and the weather has been awful!
Thankfully we haven’t suffered too much from cabin fever as we have been out and about quite a lot – so were grateful for the time indoors! It looks like you had fun 🙂 #pointshoot
It looks like you have been having fun whilst stuck indoors, I like the sound of your stories about the sea witch, I’d love to listen to those 🙂
Oh it does sound like you had a good time indoors – we have been in a lot too because all it has done is rain. I have a gazillion presents to play with – but I love going outside! Ickle Pickle x x
I cannot stand being inside and normally the weather doesn;t stop us but it has been horrid hasn’t it!
Yeah, not as bad as some parts thankfully though x
The weather has been rubbishy hasn’t it? I tried where possible to go for a walk with the little man even up the street and back, to get some fresh air, most days, but we did have a few days stuck indoors – sounds like you kept busy!! 🙂
Oh I know the feeling, it’s so nice to get out and about.
Love the campfire pic, looks like you had loads of fun regardless of being indoors 🙂 x #pointshoot
It was fun camping with my teddies!! 😉
It’s so difficult isn’t it, we love the outdoors, but the pouring rain does take the shine of it. Thanks for linking up to #pointshoot x
I can relate to cabin fever. Sounds like you’ve managed to have some fun though, love the story telling round a campfire.
Thanks for sharing with #LetKidsBeKids
I do love to get out and about but we had a lovely Christmas and it looks like you managed to have a lovely time too. Happy New Year to you all 🙂 #LetKidsBeKids
Aww… such great a sweet post. I’ve never heard expression “cabin fever” before – very well put suited for holiday wet wintery periods. I love the Cinder-Bella photo. She just looks so beautiful! #PointShoot
Awww thanks! xx
