The Very Hungry Caterpillar Gifts

Dear Mummy, I’ve just discovered this book at nursery and I love it so. It’s called The Very Hungry Caterpillar and it is a children’s picture book designed, illustrated and written by Eric Carle, first published by the World Publishing Company in 1969. It features a caterpillar who eats its way through a wide variety of foodstuffs before pupating and emerging as a butterfly. We have a big story board up at nursery and I love learning more about the creatures and wildlife he encounters on his journey.

Recently we were asked to review some new promotional gifts and activities based on the fantastic book and I jumped at the chance. I’m the perfect age for this book and it’s part of the learning criteria at my pre-school. Great for trying out just before Christmas and signposting families to these fun gifts.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar - Nature Walk Scrapbook

The Very Hungry Caterpillar – Nature Walk Scrapbook (£7.99)

I was instantly drawn to the activity book, my mummy and I go on lots of outdoor adventures so this was a great aid and fun activity to take with us. It’s a soft back A4 landscape book with colourful pictures, drawing prompts and wildlife information in it and also doubles up as a lovely scrapbook and keepsake for children. It’s a bit like a nature journal and I love filling it in and collecting leaves to fill its pages.  My mummy has it in her rucksack and its great for keeping my focus on long walks and filled with interesting information. We had fun taking it out on one of our adventures and you can read the post here.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar – My Nature Trail Adventure (£9.99)

For those rainy days when we can’t get out of the house there are loads of items related to The Very Hungry Caterpillar which make the story book go even further. We loved this puzzle and games set and I had great fun colouring in and matching the cards. We also took it out for a pub lunch and it kept me occupied for ages at the dinner table, even my grandma got involved.

Another item similar to the above was a fun games box which included cardboard matching games and I was introduced to the fab game of SNAP! Which was super fun and addictive. I didn’t want to stop playing it!

I also played with a lovely keepsake tin which was jam packed full of colouring in, stickers and games. This would make a lovely present for someone and it’s presented beautifully.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar – Party Plate (£23), Napkins (£5.50) Garland (£5.50)

We love a good party and what better way to immerse myself in The Very Hungry Caterpillar than throwing a party and eating just like him. In the range we reviewed some really cute paper napkins with the caterpillar and strawberries on and thought the birthday cards were lovely and colourful.

We also liked the mixed garland which displayed rainbows, grass and insects on. Both were really eye-catching and would make a fabulous addition to a children’s party with The Very Hungry Caterpillar theme.

The Caterpillar Shaped Party Plate was really cool and we hadn’t seen anything like it before! I was so excited with all my The Very Hungry Caterpillar items that I had a little tea party with my friends. The shape of the dish was unusual and quirky but the perfect size to put finger food in.

The decorations and accessories were great for a kids party and if you are thinking about having a The Very Hungry Caterpillar themed party we’d strongly recommend checking out this range. You can find the items listed here on Amazon and any good toy store, also look out for items at your local bookstore too.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar – Duvet and Pillow set (£24)

After my eventful The Very Hungry Caterpillar day I was ready for bed and was ready to snuggle down in my own Mr Caterpillar’s duvet set and pillows. It’s a really cute set designed for a junior bed, which measures 110cm x 125cm. It’s made from lovely soft cotton and looks sweet on my bed with food and little caterpillars on!

So what do you think of The Very Hungry Caterpillar range? We think it would make a great pre-schooler present.

Love Bella x

  6. What amazing gifts. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a huge favourite in our house. Our 2.5 year old loves announcing that butterflies were one in fact caterpillars and the original book helped her so much with counting and fruit identification. I think some of these may find their way into her Christmas stocking this year. x
