Dear Mummy, we’ve been very brave and taken the leap into vlogging. There’s no going back now…we’ve bitten the video bug. Last year we watched bloggers launch their YouTube careers and patiently waited in the wings, waiting our turn for the limelight.

My First Vlog - Dear Mummy Blog

Here’s some of the reasons we didn’t start our YouTube channel sooner….

1) Speech. I couldn’t talk or communicate my thoughts very well (I am only 4 years old now). Our blog is written through my eyes as Baby Isabella @dear_mummy and it would make sense that all our videos have me in them as the main vlogger. With my mummy as my supporting act. We actually make a good double act.

2) Confidence. My mummy wasn’t brave enough to make the big leap into video on her own. Talking to a camera isn’t her strong point, she’d much prefer to hide herself away behind a computer screen and proof read for me. So she waited until I was old enough to do it with her.

3) Inspiration. We had no idea what to talk about….we still don’t. We’re just winging it, sharing our adventures and experiences hoping that it might help, inspire our readers  and make you guys laugh.

4) Organic. It needed to come naturally and not forced. We set up our tripod and tried a couple of test shots to see what worked and what didn’t. We found that the first take would be better than doing it several times, as I got bored and would disappear off camera.

5) Knowledge. We didn’t have the equipment or knowledge. We knew from the get go that we didn’t want to record our videos with a camera phone. We wanted something a bit more polished and high def, with relativity good lightening (we’re still not there yet, but have made a good start).

6) Time. It’s not as if we have a crazy amount of time to film and edit our videos, my folks work full-time and I’m in nursery the majority of the week. So evenings and weekends is only time we can film. The evenings are so dark and it’s too late to get me in front of the camera after nursery. So we film at weekends and my mummy edits in the evenings.

The benefits far outweigh the pitfalls of YouTube. It gives our readers the chance to get to know us a bit better, hear our voices and is an extension to this blog. It will be another channel to push out our brand and people we work with. Hopefully in 2017 we’ll be using it a whole lot more. As for the time being, please enjoy our first offering to YouTube…we hope you enjoy it and let us know what you think.

Love Bella x

  1. I’ve been contemplating a podcast because vlogging seems scarier. You make me want to give it a shot though! I hope you see a lot of success with your YouTube channel. #DreamTeam

  2. Oh this is so lovely! I’m new to vlogging too – you’ll love it – it’s such fun and you’re absolutely right it gives your readers a way to learn a little more about you! Good luck with it! #DreamTeam

  3. Love how you set this out and I have to say Isabella steels the show on the video, how dare you call her a baby now! Great fun, I can see you enjoying this. #TwinklyTuesday

  4. People keep asking me if i do vlogging and i tell them i won’t. I hate the sound of my own voice so would hate to do my posts on a video. All the best for you though x

  5. What a lovely post. I have to admit I find it hard to talk to the camera – but starting young is such a great idea as you will just have that confidence. And at least you have your mummy with you too.

  6. Ah I’m currently stuck at Insta stories but would love to vlog! You guys look great and looking forward to seeing some more vids. Good luck!! xx #twinklytuesday

  7. Oh Bella, I absolutely love your first vlog! It is so wonderful to see your sparkling personality and hear you talking to us. You did a wonderful job and so did your Mummy! xx

  8. Wow well done for expanding and trying something new. I’m still far to scared to contemplate vlogging! I hope you have lots of fun on your new adventure, though #DreamTeam

  9. This is a really good post for people who start vlogging and may be scared about it 🙂 I wish you all the best with this new adventure! x

  10. Isabella you are definitely the cutest vlogger / butterfly I have yet to meet! I love the “no nonsense” sign off too! ” Bye!” Hahahaha. Thanks for linking your debut performance up with us at #DreamTeam. Looking forward to seeing more of you and your lovely mum! x

  11. Well done for taking the leap into the wonderful world of YouTube guys! Oscar and I also have a channel but he is happy to be in front of the camera by himself so I just do all the filming and try to fill any silences with my annoying voice lol. One day though I may feel brave enough to be in one of his videos 🙂

  13. Ah well done you I could never vlog I am seriously impressed by all those that do. Such an achievement making your first one – its fab. #marvmondays xx

  14. Congratulations on taking the leap. I like the idea of vlogging though I’m not sure I could ever do it. Maybe one day…

  15. Ah this is so cute! I keep thinking about vlogging but I hate the sound of my own voice – I think I’ve convinced myself I don’t really have an accent but I sound exactly like my Mum as soon as I hear myself on video! #sharethebloglove

  16. You are the best double act! Well done for taking the leap. I started to vlog towards the end of last year, but I haven’t done any in 2017 yet. I really need to get back on it, I love it when I do it. Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove x

  17. Love it. She’s so funny as only 3 year olds can be. I’ve not really vlogged yet – not too sure about it with work and future employers finding me on there, plus I never get round to actually editing the videos I do. #sharingthebloglove
