Dear mummy, we’re always on the lookout for new and usual toys and this week we were send some Glimmies™ to review. We’ve never heard of Glimmies before and they are small fairy folk. I believe in fairies and being only 4 years old my imagination is really starting to take flight. Seeing these little guys reminds me of our visit to the fairy forest in Northern Ireland last year and I think this is where they came from, however my mummy corrects me and they come from Glimmieswood!

There are 23 little star fairies to collect across the whole range which includes single blister packs from £3.99, triple packs and playsets. They are sent by the moon to take care of “Glimmieswood” forest and the animals that live there. This is the reason why Glimmies have cute resemblances to forest animals they care for and they are always respectful nature and their environment. We love their different colours and facial expressions.

They measure at 6cms high with a beautiful glowing light in their tummies. It’s a lovely glowing light a bit like fireflies that whiz around the forests. There are 12 to collect from the single blister packs which we are reviewing today. Each miniature doll magically lights up in the dark and while you cup them in your hands. Each Glimmie has its own name and bio too which we find fascinating. We were sent Batlinda and Dotterella. Batlinda looked like a blue bat with sparkly glitter wings and Dotterella was bright orange with antennas and wings.

The Gimmies names are: Foxanne, Hazelyn, Celeste, Rakella, Nova, Dormilla, Batlinda, Lumix, Dotterella, Spinosita, Flayla, Cornelie, Alya, Cerulea, Astrea, Almendra, Lavoonia, Sietina, Fernicia, Rubina, Pluma, Aurea (Aurea is limited edition and is available with the Glimtern). We can’t wait to collect all of them and create a magical world with Glimmies, my daddy is actually thinking of making me a stand for my room so I can lay them all out!
So how do they work? The science behind this magical reaction is a photometric light sensor on top of their head that responds to the lack of light in the surrounding area causing them to glow. When I first saw this I actually thought it was a small button, so spent ages trying to figure it out….my little toddler brain can’t keep up with the magic glow of glimmies! They have a proper button behind the head to turn them on and off.

Gimmies are aimed at children aged 3 – 6 years and they are one of the best things I’ve seen this year. Infact I’m not the only one, they won an award at this years Toy Fair in London for best new collectable toy. We think they are going to be a massive success in 2017! Keep your eyes pealed in February 2017 for their release! Glimmies Single Blister Pack are only £3.99 and available from Flair, Amazon and all good toy shops.

Love Bella x
Disclosure: We were kindly sent two Glimmies in order to write an honest review. All thoughts and surprises were our own.

My daughter has the same reaction when she is playing something and all of a sudden it lights up. The exact same sound! However, she then proceeds to throw it away, haha.
