Dear Mummy, January and February can be pretty miserable and grey so we needed to inject some happiness and colour into our lives this winter. What better way to ‘get happy’ than a visit to a Toy Fair! But not any old Toy Fair….the biggest in the UK. The annual London Toy Fair is an opportunity for toy manufacturers to promote and demonstrate their latest toys to attract potential retailers and customers.

Brio at the Toy Fair

My folks love to aimlessly walk round toy shops seeing what’s new and remembering their childhoods and its a great way to indulge in being a BIG kid. So imagine my mummy’s delight at being invited to the show.

She packed her bag and headed to London Olympia for the BTHA Toy Fair and after visiting last year she knew what to expect and had high hopes to see some really great toys for 2017. A couple of special releases that are close to our hearts, like PJ Masks, Care Bears 35th Anniversary and Pop! Vinyl’s Beauty and the Beast really got us excited! My mummy loved looking at the Best in Show stand and she was happy to see Orchard Toys’ Cheeky Monkeys and Glimmies feature in the awards and I’m looking forward to reviewing these products later this year.

35th Anniversary of the Care Bears

My mummy had a couple of appointments booked with some toy manufactures and distributors and she was really grateful that they managed to squeeze her into their busy show schedule. It was lovely walking around and seeing some of the new toys for 2017 before their release to the UK market. Some of the toys are under wraps and top secret until their release so we can’t share too much with you just yet!

Trunki Unicorn

Lego, SpinMaster and Playmobil were among the winners of Toy Fair’s Best New Toys. Selected by an independent panel of retailers, these are the toys they believe will be the hottest products over the coming year. We’re huge fans for PJ Masks so were happy to see the PJ Masks Beanies on the list too!

Orchard Toys received recognition for their game called Cheeky Monkeys and my mummy saw it in action at the show and was very impressed!

Here’s a little vlog of our adventure to the Toy Fair 2017 and you can read about last years trip here.

Do you like walking around toy shops? Do you find yourself reminiscing about your childhood? My mummy loved seeing all the Care Bears at the show!

  1. Lovely to see Orchard Toys picking up an award, we love their toys for preschool kids. One day I’ll get to the toy fair, it does look an amazing event #bloggerclubuk

  2. We loved Orchard games when the kids were little. the rules were so simple (unless the hell that is Game of Life a current favourite!) I have just sold their trunkies too. another end of an era! Fab toys that were well used here!

  3. Bella, it looks like your Mummy had a wonderful time at the Toy Fair and got to see a lot of great toys for this year. I look forward to seeing you review the toys in the near future!

  4. Oh I heard about the toy fair, we would have loved to have gone! It sounds really good fun and great to get a peak at new toys and games coming out soon! We love Orchard Toys so will have to look out for their new game! 🙂

  5. Usually I just go to food fairs. Sounds like I am missing out by not attending the toy fair! I really want that unicorn trunki!!!

  6. There is nothing better than having a day to be a big kid. It’s funny i remember recently seeing an interview from Ed Sheeran buying himself a huge lego thing for himself when looking for a kid’s present. No idea how that came to mind. I’m more of a kid when it comes to snacks like cheesestrings or sweets from childhood x

  7. Gutted we didn’t go this year but it fell on Eliza’s birthday and we had other plans. Looks like it was fun

  8. Wow that’s pretty cool, I don’t have kids so obviously I didn’t know anything about Orchard Toys. I feel I will definitely be a mommy expert by the time I have a child reading all these mommy blogs :-). I love reading about what other mommies do and things they do with their children just give me an idea or different perspective of thing you get me? This event seems pretty cool one thing I do know is kids love toys 🙂
