The Bizarre at Blissfields in Hampshire

Dear Mummy, the bizarre is coming to Hampshire in the form of Blissfields Festival at Vicarage Farm, Winchester, Hampshire. Blissfields is an individual music festival and boasts some excellent DJs and artists. Last year saw me head to my first ever House Party with the Blissfields crew (read our review here) and this year we’re more excited than ever with the likes of The Cinematic Orchestra, Metronomy, Lady Leshurr, DJ Yoda, DJ Luck and MC Neat gracing its intimate stage. That’s quite a line up but there is much, much more to see at Blissfields…

Blissfields 2017 Line-up

Adults can also enjoy a UV Paint Splash Party, Day of the Dead Dance, Nightspot Cinema, Disco Yoga, Rockaoke, Extreme Sports, along with seven stages and discos on site. Even though I won’t be up all night partying with my folks (well I am only 4 years old), young-uns like me are well catered for during the day making Blissfields a family affair.

Blissfields Festival Review 2016

Families have always been a huge part of Blissfields and Angel Gardens, who are the hosts of this award-winning kids area, are continuing the festivals Bizarre theme. We can’t wait to dress up as mystical woodland animals and creatures to join them in wonderful activities during the two-day event.

Blissfields Festival Review 2016

Blissfields is on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th July, with early birds arriving on Thursday 6th July to set up camp in the beautiful woodland surroundings. The site is in a slight bowl and has lovely trees around the perimeter making it a stunning site. If you want to dip your toe into the Blissfields way of life then day tickets are now on sale and perfect for families wanting to participle in some great kids activities while listening to some fantastic music. So if you are local to Hampshire then why not pop down?

Blissfields-2015-Review-1

Think A Midsummer Night’s Dream meets The Wind In The Willows in the Kids Area! The Jumping Hare’s Art tent will help children create all kinds of bizarre and wonderful things to wear and play with over the weekend and help us get ready for the Unicorn, Fox and Hare Lantern Parade on Saturday evening. There will also be a Unicorn Ball and kids will have the chance to make horns and ears in the craft tent in preparation and the face painting tent will be open to shower glitter on everyone! The Unicorns Nest is especially for under 3s and has everything little ones may need, including a dedicated bath-time hour, changing and feeding areas as well as a box of spare clothes in case little ones have a fall in the mud. They also have sessions for babies and toddlers such as music making, dance and movement and messy play.

Blissfields Festival Review 2016

We’re looking forward to joining the ‘Bizarre Crafts’ workshops and producing our own fully-playable whistle from an ordinary carrot! Making woodland crafts, natural bracelets, necklaces out of foraged resources or having a go with origami. We like the idea of making funky festival bags by recycling second-hand tops with Eco Tee-bags. Theres also a great games tent with board games, cards and actual stuff you have to touch and move yourself, not a digital screen in sight – How bizarre?!

Blissfields Festival Review 2016

We’re looking forward to visiting the old-fashioned fun fair at Blissfields with all my favourite rides like the dodgems and ghost trains. However the best part of Blissfields this year has to be the FREE HOT AIR BALLOON rides they are giving to festival goers! I’m looking forward to taking my family down to THE BAY at Blissfields which is their very own beach equipped with deckchairs and everything!

Blissfields Festival Review 2016

We’re chuffed to see some of our favourite street food vendors returning for Blissfields 2017. Luardos will be wrapping up some of the finest burritos known to man, whilst Pommarola Pizza Gardens get our mouths watering with their unique artisan slices and Original Fry-Up Material push things forward with their hangover-curing, salivation-inducing breakfast food.

Blissfields Review 2016

So, lets recap –  good music, fantastic kids activities and a safe friendly festival, which has been likened to a miniature Glastonbury – this is the perfect time to expose your children to the festival scene!

Tickets are ON SALE NOW via www.blissfields.co.uk priced at just £105 for an adult weekend ticket with no booking fees. Day tickets range from £65 on Saturday for Adults, Friday £55 for Adults and children’s day tickets are only £10 (up to 10 years old) with no booking fees!
