Dear mummy, really?! Can you actually have a good time in our garden? It’s in need of a bit of TLC it’s fair to say and not the most attractive of outdoor spaces! We spent last weekend at home recovering from a busy week and for the first time in a long time entered our jungle of a garden.

Our Garden

You have attempted to make it a bit toddler friendly by splitting it into areas, however it ain’t no Chelsea Flower Show garden! LOL! After a quick tidy up you deemed it safe to venture outside.

The pond: AKA the paddling pool which has things growing and swimming in it…are they tadpoles?!? Its been up for a couple of weeks collecting rainwater – yuk! and I’ve been told not to go skinny dipping it in! I stop and stare at the creatures swimming in the deep (1cm of water).

Our Garden Pond

The child’s garden. Pinterest eat your heart out…NOT. This area could really do with some work. At least the Sweet Pea which we grew from seedling are actually growing and flowering. Even after “Watercress-gate” when Grandma pulled up the carpet of watercress thinking they were weeds and ‘removed’ our Sunflowers, also thinking they were weeds, the Sweet Pea have survived! My mummy is not very green fingered, so for us to actually grow something is an accomplishment!

Our Garden

The slide: The slide of doom! Beware the creepy crawlies that cling to its bright yellow exterior! Like moths to a flame they are drawn. My mummy is constantly trying to stop the birds pooing on it and slugs trying to eat it.

Our Garden

On went the mouse through the deep dark wood.
A snake saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.

Where are you going to, little brown mouse?
Come for a feast in my log-pile house.

The logpile house: Where the snake lives! Eeeeek the snake! From our favourite Gruffalo books we spend time pretending that he lives there. This piece of twisted twig is our resident garden snake. Be afraid, be very afraid. We had old Fir Trees chopped up from our garden and reused them to make a little creepy crawly hidden hole.

The cherry tree: which never really seems to blossom, however we spotted red cherries on it for the first time in years! We spend hours collecting the fallen cherries and storing them in the pile. We even counted them! The plastic dinosaurs enjoyed eating them. We hunted for treasure in the garden and this was our haul! A mixture of stones, snail shells and cherries.
