My Mummy’s Miracle Haircare!
Argan Secret Review
Find out what beauty item has changed my mummy’s life!
One of the items has actually changed her life…and we ain’t talking about the chocolate 😉
My mummy’s not a beauty blogger, far from it! Her beauty routine is scrubbing her face with soap and water and washing her hair once a week! Yes, you heard me right ladies! ONCE A WEEK! You see she’s got thick (straw-like) long black hair. She gets it dyed every 2-3 months and that’s it. That’s her maintenance. Simples.
My mummy is usually quite happy to buy Poundland shampoo and conditioner which makes this review all the more shocking!
In her Festival Place bloggers bag was a bottle of Argan Secret SHADA Shampoo and a bottle of SHADA Condition. These top-end beauty products will set you back at least £15 per bottle in Shear Beauty! £15?! FIFTEEN BLOODY QUID! I’m gobsmacked. Jeeze let’s try this out and see why it’s so blooming expensive!
Ordinarily if my mummy had seen this on the shelf she would have smirked and told herself “what bloody idiot would pay that on shampoo and/or conditioner?”
But here’s the revelation! It’s like nothing she has ever encountered in her 34 years on the planet….
So where do we start?
The packaging is in a very simple and chic box. It has a very Moroccan feel to it with the pattern and design. It looks luxurious. The bottles are brown and very simple though, so its hard to tell which one is the shampoo and which one is the conditioner. Especially when you have soap in your eyes! The consistency of the shampoo is a bit strange – it feels like oil and feels greasy, when you put the shampoo in your hair is feels wrong and doesn’t leave her with a squeaky clean scalp… but maybe that’s the point as it doesn’t strip the natural oils out of your hair like other shampoo products do.
It takes ages to build up a lather in her hair and there are virtually no bubbles when she shampoo’s – this is a strange experience for my mummy as she’s used to seeing lots of soapy suds. It doesn’t take much to rinse out and my mummy is dubious that it has even cleaned her hair at all! The conditioner is a much better experience – its thick and smells lovely – She leaves it in for 2-3 minutes and it washes out like a dream. Her wet hair in the bath water feels lovely and smooth. When my mummy brushes her hair there are no tangles which is crazy as my mummy’s hair is usually like a bird nest.
The drying time also seems less – maybe because there isn’t as much product in her hair coating the follicles. It usually takes my mummy 45 minutes to dry and it only took 20 this time. My mummy uses the hair dryer only to dry her hair straight and the results are fantastic! Even without the straighten irons her hair is smoother, less frizzy and fees so soft. She is well chuffed. Straightening irons only add to the softeness and shine and my mummy’s hair feels light and looks so healthy. She’s very happy.
One week later and my mummy’s hair is only starting to feel greasy – it lasted all this time without a wash and still looks good. It could save you from washing your hair multiple times through the week, which is a cost saving exercise in its own right. Even when she lets her hair dry naturally it isn’t frizzy anymore which is great. Yes the product is expensive but she was amazed at the results.
So, what did my mummy do? She only went back to buy some more and this time in BIG bottles. Her treat to herself and a testament to this product. See, she’s proper tight, so had to do lots of justification to walk out the store with this.
Thanks Shear Beauty for opening my mummy’s eyes to this brand of haircare, without your ‘testers’ she would have never found out what it’s like to have salon feeling hair at home. A miracle!
The secret is out…….Argan Secret IS a luxurious haircare range, which conditions with nourishing Argan oil, leaving hair smooth, soft, silky and manageable.
If it puts a smile on my mummy’s face then it puts a smile on my face!
Getting my pamper on.
We ain’t talking about nappies!
An interesting package arrived through the post for us over the Easter Weekend and it wasn’t an Easter Egg! In fact it was much better than that.
My own spa package! I maybe only 2 years old but it’s worth paying attention to ones skin! 😉
A lovely selection of children’s products from the fab Lala & Bea have been sent through for us to review.
It includes an Organic Nourish Balm, which comes in a handy travel size tin. My mummy has a balm and I see her use it on herself from time to time, but now I have my own.
You see it’s been specially formulated for children using the best of everything! Free from synthetically produced parabens (that’s a chemical filler that stops bacteria growing in cosmetics to me and you) and using only natural ingredients like Rosehip seed oil which helps sooth and soften skin.
I’ve used it on my bottom and tops of my arms as they get itchy and sore. It puts a smile on my face and it smells heavenly! Even my mummy nabbed it for her flaky elbows and chapped lips urgh! I saw her admiring her appearance in the mirror yesterday!
I next clapped eyes on the Organic Nourishing Oil, a calming and relaxing massage oil. But before I know it mummy’s snatched it from my grip “Yes!” My mummy shouts, one for her! This is the only adult only product in Lala & Bea’s range as it contains aromatherapy oils which are perfect for adults but too strong for babies. It also contains Rosehip Seed Oil, Oat Oil and Vitamin E. My mummy is going to get daddy to rub it into her shoulder tonight because of its anti-inflammatory properties. Ooer I say! 😉 it also smells very ‘spa-like’ a lovely little treat for my mummy.
I too have my own Baby Massage & Bath Oil. O.M.Gosh the loveliest smelling product out of the lot! If we could put a scratch and sniff into this post we would. Trust us. Amazing smell. My mummy runs it under hot running water for my ‘spa’ bath. It is naturally hypoallergenic and contains a whole host of antioxidants. It’s Very luxurious! The Baby Massage & Bath Oil also contains Roman Camomile oil, Jojoba plant extracts, Vitamins A,D and E. All these wonderful oils help with softening my skin, moisturising it and making me feel very relaxed and…..sleepy. A perfect bath before bed. The smell wafting up from the hot bath water also makes daddy relaxed and calm, great for a stress free bedtime routine.
Last but not least, finishing our wonderful ‘spa-like’ treatments with Lala&Bea, the whole family has a spritz of the ‘Sleep Tight Pillow Spray’. Not just for us babies you see, my mummy suggests that daddy sprays it onto his pillow too. You see he hasn’t been sleeping that well and because this contains Lavender and Ylang Ylang it helps to induce a sleep like coma (well his Vodka and Coke probably helped as well 😉 joking aside the smell from the sheets is VERY relaxing.
A lot of products here from the Lala&Bea range and what we’re most impressed with is their attitude. Their philosophy is great and we’re also firm believers in trying to source products that are made in the UK, helping to support local businesses and cutting down environmental impact. The design and pakageing is simple but eye catching as they let their products do the talking and we are listening….if we can keep our eyes open long enough not to……Zzzzzzzz.
If you want to feel relaxed and use top quality skincare for babies and adults then this is the place for you. Yes the prices are expensive but you get what you pay for and who doesn’t deserve a little treat once in a while.
Go on give yourself a spa treatment at home today! All you need is someone willing to rub your back!
Love Bella x
Festival Place Bloggers meet-up
My mummy doesn’t usually have the opportunity to treat herself so imagine her delight when she was invited to a bloggers networking event at Festival Place Shopping Center!
Her ‘Mummy time’ mostly consists of a 20 minute bath with a cold cup of tea! So a full 2 hours of hobnobbing with other bloggers, gaining style tips from Melissa Murrell and being treated to a manicure from Shear Beauty was utter bliss!
The new networking event was organised by Festival Place as a way to engage with local bloggers and showcase stores and services within their shopping center. They did a fantastic job and drew in a range of diverse bloggers from around Hampshire.
As soon as my mummy walked into Giraffe restaurant, where the networking event was being held, she recognised one of her local blogging friends NorthHantsMum (NHM) however there were a lot of new faces too. Canapes and drinks lined the tables along with goodie bags for the attendees.
Beauty and fashion bloggers were eagerly chatting to one another, commenting on the clothes rail that was set up at the end of the hospitality room.
A stylist and personal shopper called Melissa Murrell was presenting her business and giving us some style tips on how to dress for our body shapes. Move over Gok Wan, you may be the local boy (Winchester) but you’ve got some serious competition in the shape of this blonde bombshell 😉
Melissa was great putting the non-fashion bloggers (AKA my mummy) at ease by explaining that ‘it isn’t all about the numbers’ while presenting her with a tape measure to record the 3 points on her shoulders, tummy and hips to determine her body shape.
This is quite daunting as my mummy’s shape has changed quite dramatically since having me two years ago and she’s uncomfortable about the way she looks now. However Melissa put her mind at ease and could easily relate after have two children of her own. The majority of her clients are in fact mummy’s who have lost their style mojo.
Earlier my mummy had picked up 2 illustrated cards off Melissa Murrell’s demonstration table. A pear drawing and rectangle drawing of her possible body shape…and she wasn’t far off! After calculating her proportions she was a very healthy pear shape.
Melissa then ran through how to dress for her shape.
Here’s a quick run through of the tips and tricks she picked up. But we don’t want to give everything away. Visit Melissa Murrell’s website and see for yourself.
It’s all about ‘broadening’ (not adding pounds but changing your shape by optical illusion).
Balance is key.
Try and emulate an hourglass figure.
Straight up and down is easy to dress but make it a bit more interesting by adding detail either at the shoulders if you are pear, or shoulders and hips if you are boyish.
A lot of the fashion and beauty bloggers were a dab hand at this, but the mummy bloggers in the crowd (my mummy) didn’t have a clue, so found her little style talk invaluable! We’ll be checking out her website for more style tips! A very educational and enjoyable hour.
Festival Place have always been good with their shopper and community engagement. They explained during the night that more events are being held this year to give shoppers a unique experience when they visit in 2015.
On April 3rd – 4th (Easter Weekend) Eat Street is back which is a weekend event allowing shoppers to taste from local stores and stall food, immerse themselves in cookery demonstrations and enjoy the easter weekend with treats from Hotel Chocolate, perfect for when my mummy finishes Lent and can start eating chocolate again! There will be entertainment featuring top celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli too. Woweee mummy! Sounds good.
It’s nice that the stores within Festival Place shopping centre get onboard with the seasonal activities and offer competitions and discounts to shoppers during the events the shopping centre hosts.
While the Festival Place team were talking, my mummy noticed that two beauty technicians had turned up to offer us complementary nail manicure from Shear Beauty. Woweee, now you really are being spoilt mummy. This epitomizes the way that Festival Place treat their customers and my mummy felt very pampered. This is a lovely feeling when you are rushed off your feet at work all day and being a mummy to a mad toddler.
My mummy had a great couple of hours and it was one of the friendliest blogger meet ups she’s had so far. Well done Festival Place.
From your local ‘shopping family’

P.s No serious blogging event would be complete without the goodie bags. And they were amazing! BlogFest and BritMums take note! 😉 We can’t wait to explore the products and showcase the beauty products in the next couple of weeks 🙂
